Food culture has always been a definitive marker of identity throughout the ages, reflecting transformations social orders have undergone over time. Consumerism finds its most potent manifestation in food cultures, especially terms type consumed (imported, ready-to-eat, frozen etc.) and modes which it is (at restaurants, dine-ins, online ordering). The Covid-19 pandemic situation saw drastic way Indians perceived drinks, with gig economy home-made industry flourishing. lockdown associated restrictions led to sharp decline number people eating out at hotels cafes. Besides, work-at-home made leisure possible for significant section middle-class, propelling subjects cook home, often leading emergence local food-based start-ups. Domestic servitude declined due upper-class suspicion maids “lowly” domestic employees who came from “unclean” locales. As such, homemakers working subjects, women, began cooking on their own, innovative cultures novel gastronomic consumerism. paper attempts explore multifaceted propels consumer “culture industry” India, as revealed through surveys, published reports media pages. study would also engage gender, class caste intersect consumerism arena, thereby developing holistic perspective how affects across groups India.
